How to Measure Your Frame Size

The fastest way to find frames that fit is to copy the numbers from a pair you already like. Almost every pair has them printed on the inside of one arm.

Reading the numbers

You will see something like 52-18-145 — sometimes written 52□18-145. Those three numbers, in millimetres, are:

  • Lens width (52) — how wide one lens is at its widest point.
  • Bridge width (18) — the gap between the two lenses, over your nose.
  • Arm length (145) — the temple arm, from hinge to the tip behind your ear.

Every product page on this site lists the same three measurements, so you can compare directly against the pair on your face right now.

If you have no frames to copy

Measure the width of your face at the temples, just above your ears, and compare:

  • under 130 mm — look for a lens width around 48-50 mm
  • 130-140 mm — around 50-52 mm
  • over 140 mm — 54 mm and up

How it should sit

The frame should be about as wide as your face, no wider. Your pupils should sit near the centre of each lens, not high or off to one side. The arms should run straight back and touch your head only just in front of your ears — not grip.
